Dear Sally,
thanks for reaching out to us in the Trainer Talk NFB list! Your question is a great one, because there are many scenarios for podcasting.
What type of podcast is your student going to make? If it's an interview type podcast then the Braille Sense Polaris would actually be a great fit since it has a recording button that can be used. The Polaris actually has great stereo microphones that pick up everything! Your student can then edit or cut out parts s/he needs by using apps on his / her computer.
If they would rather record on the computer, just make sure that the mic is good and can capture voice, music, ETC. There are free programs out there for windows that can be used effectively for recording. Try these:
* Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Windows Reaper - http://www.reaper.fm/
Both these apps can export directly into MP3 format.
Hope this helps and if you have further questions, please do ask.
Sincerely,
Humberto

I have a middle school student who will need to create a podcast for a school assignment. She uses Jaws and she also has a Braille Sense Polaris.
I would like to avoid purchasing software, as this is most likely a one- time assignment. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
