The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence,
and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.
We are seeking a Voc Rehab Program Specialist II to provide independent professional vocational rehabilitation functions in a rehabilitation program in
the Vocational Preparation Section of the Charles McDowell Rehabilitation Center.
Key Responsibilities:

* Independently provides evaluations and training to blind/visually impaired consumers in assistive technology, including but not limited to JAWS (Job
Access With Speech), Zoomtext, smart phones, adaptive devices and keyboarding.
* Works with an inter-disciplinary team to provide consumers with necessary services to live independently and gain employment.
* Provides supervision and detailed instruction of various assistive technology and keyboarding to consumers.
* Documents work with consumers and the program through monthly reports and maintains program files.
* Reviews and evaluates medical, psychological, vocational and training reports to determine blind/visually impaired consumers' specific needs.
* Participates in staff meetings as well as inter-disciplinary meetings to make recommendations regarding consumers' training in order to assist in
future rehabilitation planning.
* Serves as a resource for agency staff, school transition, and organizations that work with individuals who are blind/visually impaired.
* Works with employers to ensure that consumers have the assistive technology needed for their jobs.
* Attends professional training to ensure best practices for instructional area.
* Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance and/or counseling, psychology,
sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Two years professional experience in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, vocational assessment, employer relations, rehabilitation technology,
rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation, supported employment, job placement, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation
and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, customized employment, health studies, human
relations, human resources, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree plus two years of professional experience in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, vocational assessment, employer relations,
rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation, supported employment, job placement, guidance and/or counseling, psychology,
sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, customized employment,
health studies, human relations, human resources, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, or a related field will substitute for the
required master's degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be required to coordinate services between customers and the agency.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
