Yes, you have to use appointments. Only meetings or appointments can go in
the Calendar as far as I know. You want appointments since you don't want to
invite people, just show you are busy.

Hello,
I need to know the following. For my job, I need to begin adding what I do
throughout the day to my Outlook calendar so that others could see what I'm
doing, in case they need to meet with or call me. I guess that's called
adding events to my Outlook calendar. I'm not sure the best way of doing
that. Can I add events without making them appointments? I can't find a key
stroke or process for doing that, unless I make each one an actual
appointment.
