Hey, Maria. I had a student using this program a couple summers ago and we worked very hard on trying to get it to work with the screen reader. She went to Western and they were awesome about trying to assist on all levels, from professors, IT, disability services, etc. They were able to locate a professor at Harvard who was using it successfully. However, she was still using a much older version of the software. From what I recall during our extensive research, it used to be extremely accessible up until IBM purchased it.
from what I remember, there are other similar programs that are much more accessible but universities tend to be set on using SPSS. however, many employers tend to use the other programs that I cannot recall the names of off the top of my head.
I can try to reach out to my former student and see if she had any more luck with the software after leaving our center and now that she is employed full-time with the state, what similar programs is she using as an epidemiologist.
Tonia

Subject: [Trainer-Talk] SPSS accessibility

Hello,

Has anyone here had any experience with SPSS with JAWS.

SPSS is short for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, and it's used
by various kinds of researchers for complex statistical data analysis.

The SPSS software package was created for the management and statistical
analysis of social science data. It was originally launched in 1968 by SPSS

Inc., and was later acquired by IBM in 2009.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mario
