[Trainer-Talk] audio editing software

Hello,

I am going to try GoldWave. Yes, their site still has
the version for windows 7 available which is great news for me. I don't need
any updates so it does not bother me they are not updating this version. I
intend to do basic stuff.

Maybe someone who uses it can discuss off list. I'd like some tips on
splitting files. I need to take a large file and split into small ones to
make a cd of songs or topics of people talking.
I found the keyboard command to create the cue points. But, what I'm
wondering is if I need to make two cue points to create one file or just one
and Goldwave will know what to split then when I go to the tools menu to
split files.

If I get good enough with this, I could teach others what to do as well.

Someone asked if I tried Reaper. No, I have not.
Feel free to tell me what you like about Reaper and I am wondering if that
is free software or a free trial at least with menus. Personally, I find
software with menus and keyboard shortcut keys easiest to use.

Thanks!

Ashley

Hi Ashley.
Yes to all of your questions. Don already told you about the trial, and you
can go to goldwave.ca to look up current pricing. I purchased a license in
2012, and am still getting free updates now. They no longer add features to
the software versions that run on Windows 7 and older, but the last time I
visited their site, they had the final version for 7 and older available.
All the things you asked about can be done on the older software.

Good luck,
Scott
