Hello:

I have a student who speaks Spanish and minimal English. He has an iPhone
and the language is set to Spanish. The Voiceover language is also set to
Spanish. I reset the phone so we could get English out of the rotor and I am
not sure it didn't get put back in somehow, although I have not heard it
come up and we have not put it back in the rotor during class.

I have noticed several translation errors as my student has worked in IOS
17. Many words are English but the phone pronounces them with a thick
English accent. This often confuses my student.

Any tips you have for teaching basic gestures or other concepts would also
be helpful. Three instructors have worked on flicking, the rotor and other
skills. The student prefers to use SIRI. Sometimes, knowing what to say is
difficult with the language barrier. Do you use Voice memos? Is there
another recording app that is better?

The challenge with voice memos is that the pause button must be found and
double tapped. Magic tap starts a new recording rather than pause and play.
We were hoping to use voice memos for recipes. The student got a cookbook in
Spanish and we are going to see if that is a solution.

Thank you for any ideas you can give me.

Sincerely,

Nancy Coffman
