[Trainer-Talk] A Google Drive Bug With Chromium-based Browsers

Hello,
While advanced users may be able to handle different web browsers, a beginner or intermediate user may be only able to handle one.
I like Firefox the most due to its menus and easier navigation. Easy to get to bookmarks for instance.
A high functioning screen reader user may be able to have several browsers and work them okay.
Apparently, Denise informed us that Drive works well with Firefox which is good news for me. Thanks Denise.

I'm on here since sometimes I volunteer train blind or low vision computer users. Humberto's idea of multiple browsers
would not work for them due to other challenges. Everyone losing vision has memory challenges and auditory challenges just listening to Jaws since they used to see.

I feel it’s a success for them to just use one browser to conduct a web search and use some websites; let alone multiple ones.

I think NFB needs to advocate for usability and bug fixes for all browsers including the Chromium ones. It seems to me that we as screen reader users should be able to use any browser we want and should not be hindered by our screen reader choice.

At least the bug will soon be fixed.

I have only used google applications on the web. Apparently, there is Google Drive for desktop.
Does this work okay on Windows 10 with jaws? Is that a free download?

Thanks.
Ashley

I personally am a huge proponent of the theory that as a blind computer user, one must install more than one screen reader and more than one Web browser (or perhaps several), and learn how to use them. Those all are good tools to put in a user's toolbox. If one doesn't work, then the other just might. I find many times that some sites or Web apps work not super great on Edge, or Brave Browser (which are Chromium derivatives I often use), and they work much better in Firefox. Or vice-versa. Yeah, I can understand that learning a new software or browser can be a time crusher when one is just learning, but is sooo much better for mental health and frustration levels, as opposed to learning it on the fly or when what we're so used to doesn't work. Believe me, I've been there, and it's something I tell and / or model to my students.
