[Trainer-Talk] Brand Computer Users Rest Assured: You Can Still Get the Classic Outlook!

Hello everyone:

 

During this past week, while working with someone who had just obtained a
new computer, I learned that by default, after installing Microsoft 365,
what you get is the New Outlook. Now I don't know about you, but I have
spent a considerable time moving back and forth between the New Outlook and
what Microsoft is now calling Outlook Classic. I can tell you that from a
nonvisual perspective, the New Outlook is nowhere ready for prime time. Too
many people though have no idea what to do now that their new computers only
seem to have the New Outlook.

 

Here is the procedure I used to bring back the Outlook Classic software.

 

1.	I started the New Outlook and turned off what JAWS calls the Virtual
Cursor.
2.	I pressed the Alt key to reach the Home Ribbon tab, then pressed
Right Arrow to focus on the Help tab.
3.	I press Down Arrow then Right Arrow several times until I reached
"Go To Classic Outlook."
4.	Then, I pressed Space to activate this button. You are taken to a
web page where you can now download and re-install Microsoft Office--this
time, with Outlook Classic.

 

Now, if all of this sounds exceedingly tedious and complex, my contacts at
Microsoft have assured me that we can always contact the Disability Answer
Desk (DAD) at 1-800-936-5900 for help. I am told that the support personnel
are quite familiar with the process to bring the Classic Outlook back to our
computers.
