It is looking like 365.

Hi Chris,

I am fairly familiar with both platforms and I think they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

I would usually lean towards Microsoft 365, for two main reasons:

  * Screen reader support for the desktop versions of the Office applications is more mature and more tightly integrated
  * I personally think that Microsoft Exchange is a more reliable and consistent protocol than IMAP, and only Microsoft accounts will give you full Exchange support

There are two aspects, though, where Google Workspace really shines:

  * I find it easier to get up and running with collaborative documents
  * From the point of view of the person who has to fill them out, I find completing Google Forms more pleasant than completing Microsoft ones

If you do go down the Microsoft 365 route, you could always create a Gmail account for your business which could host occasional Google Workspace content, though I'm not sure whether that's strictly in line with Google's terms of use, so you might want to double check those!

Matthew

Hi everyone,

I'm currently launching a small business and trying to decide between Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace to host my core business content. I'd really appreciate your thoughts or recommendations on selecting one or the other.

For context, I'm running Windows 11 on a Lenovo PC, iOS on mobile, and using Fusion 2026 as my screen reader.

Microsoft feels like the standard choice given my familiarity with it and its smooth integration with Fusion. At the same time, I really appreciate how uncluttered Google Workspace feels. I'd love to hear from anyone who has navigated the screen reader workflow on either-or both-of these platforms.

I am specifically concerned about ease of use with K-12 educators, parents and that community. It is also important for me to provide secure cyber security.

Thanks so much for any advice or resources you can share!

Best,

Chris
