The Last TWA Flight

On this day in 2001, Trans World Airlines Flight 220 landed in St. Louis
International Airport ending 71 years of TWA operations. TWA's assets were
purchased by American Airlines. Flight 220 was piloted by Captain Bill
Compton. Started in 1930, TWA three times filed for bankruptcy during its
history, the last just prior to its acquisition by American.
