Agreed. I got my start working for Marriott International before striking
out on my own. Your not going to make lots of money however, it is fun and
some of the rewards aren't bad either.
True. Unfortunately, in any industry there are scammers out there. And the
travel industry is no different. However, for anyone wishing to get into
the business, we would be more than happy to point you in the right
direction.

I have been working as a travel agent for over 10yrs. Its not as
lucrative as it once was but it is fun. I started out at an airline and
have just learned thru on the job training which some agencies do as I
work in a call center. Some junior colleges have two year travel and
tourism programs and there are some real travel academys. What you have
to watch out for is the fly by night internet sites that try and lore you
in with promises of big money and all kinds of travel benefits. A lot of
them are pyramid schemes and card mills that basically sell you a fake
Iata card.
