  You can start as an independent agent while getting your training to start 
  up your very own agency through another host agency.  This way you are 
  making money while in training.  (on the job training)

    It usually takes one to two years to complete all the training you need to 
  open your own host agency.  The travel agent courses can be done through 
  your local Universities and there are some online schools out there as well.
