The Statler center is in Buffalo NY. That is just one idea they do a lot
of call center hotel hospitality training. If a travel agent is what you
are looking at you can like I said go thru a community college. Some
companies do on the job training as well and you can take online courses.
I worked as a TA before I did all the real training to become a
certified agent. I took classes thru the travel instutute and then had
to go into the community college to take the certification tests. Now I
take a few courses a year thru TAUNIV that are simple specialist courses
you do for free that just get you familiar with certain places and
products. I love my job but you do have to be flexable because things
change and they change quickly. Some people work from home for home
agencies but you have to be careful you do not get involved with ones
that just sell you a website and its a pyramid scheme. Home agents
sometimes use host agencies but you do not have to. I did the home thing
for awhile but unless you have the ability to get out and find lots of
clients it just did not pay as well. Travel is so much fun but I will
tell you people who travel can be very sneaky and very mean and many of
them are experts at trying to bend the rules and often times if something
goes wrong it is your fault as the agent even if you have no control over
the situation. I have been screamed at for everything from someone
missing the flight because they went to the airport at the last minute
and they would not let them on to losing their luggage. It goes with the
territory but I still love it.
