In St. Thomas, one of the US Virgin Islands, this past Monday at 14 year old
girl sitting in a open bus, was shot and killed by a stray bullet on an
excursion that was not recommend from the cruise they were on or from a
reliable travel agent, which the family admits that they were saving money
and decided to go on there own.
The biggest compliment you can pay me is to recommend my services!
When going to a place you have never been before, please check with a travel
agent or the cruise lines you have booked from.
Example: I have booked many people over the last few months going to
Jamaica. My clients had contacted me in worries when Jamaica recently had
some uneasiness within there own governments. I told my clients, that was
in Kingston the capital city, there were flying into Montego Bay and staying
at the resorts. I said the Jamaicans are wonderful people and they don't
want to bother with the tourists, but it is better that they stay within the
areas that are recommended by the hotels/resorts they are going to. My
clients came back and had wonderful times and pictures and thanks all around
about it.
We travel professionals do not want our clients hurt or worse, when we send
them some place. Especially people like myself who relies on repeat
business, not like the huge companies and online booking engines.
It is nice to save money, but it is also smart to protect yourself.
Every place in the world will have issues, if someone comes to NY I will
suggest to stay away from certain areas of the city an the Island because
just not safe.
So don't stop traveling because of things like this, just travel smart.
