This is in response to Veronica, and it has to do with food as well, since
there was so much to do, I thought I would give you a little in depth about
it.
Well with Norwegian travel agent are allowed to bring people with them, so
the Echevarria's made a day out of it. Nelson drive to NY City, which is
about 45 minutes without traffic and at the time we left was 8am we got
there around 9. We are planning to go back to the city on the 12th of June
to just spend the day.
My daughter Dina to the video, it is definitely okay, not the most
professional video, but have to remember we were with 50 other travel
professionals. I have to also say that only the travel professionals who
graduate the NCL University Program to which I am got to do this.
New York is a very popular port, because people up here want to cruise and
not have to fly to Florida they can do it.
Norwegian Cruises go out of Pier 88 which is the corner of 12th Avenue and
55th Street, and is right next door to the Intrepid Sea-Air Museum.
It was so busy that Nelson had to find parking at on the street parking
garages which was decent $10 for 12 hours, that is cheap for parking on a
Saturday Morning in NY City. But we got there early. People were going
through customs from the arrival of the Jewel. I goes out on 7 day cruises
to Orlando, FL and the Bahamas, with stop at Great Stirrup Cay which is
there private island. When we got on there had to wait until 10:30 and we
were early, so we talked to some passengers who had just come off the ship
and they loved it. I met some other travel agents, some were also IC with
Montrose and finally got to meet them only hear there voices on webinars.
You cannot take pictures or video inside the Customs area so we had to wait
until we were walking to the boat for my daughter to take video. I do have
some up on facebook and on youtube, you look up on youtube for member
angeldn3 you will find my videos still putting the up.
We get on the boat, and Maxx my guide dog was great I just told him to
follow daddy, which is Nelson and he did a great job, for those of you who
don't know I am not totally blind I do have some vision in right eye. so I
can see things but not full features etc. The ship was the first one I have
gone on. And it was huge, but the one we are going on in November is
bigger.
We got on and we first started our tour of the staterooms we did the
courtyard villa suites which is the next step up from your regular balcony
staterooms, plus they gat there own courtyard, which has private pool,
exercise rooms, dining area, it is covered while in port and then the room
is retractable can enjoy the day sunning on a lounge chair or reading on a
chez sofa or whirlpool or a steam room, we were falling in love.
Then it was on to the staterooms themselves the rooms are a little bigger
then a hotel room for the villas, there is a separate area for the bed and
bathroom, a sitting area, balcony, bar area, but each area is small, but not
tiny.
Then we went to see Cagney's Steak House and Jogging Track, I took videos
outside on the track because we had a great view of NY City, and the
Intrepid right there and walked over the look down into the pool area, they
were getting ready for the passengers going out that day, so the music was
playing and the food was out for the clients, both in the buffets and the
restaurants and in the pool area. I spoke to a few employees and got them
to talk to me on camera, I only got one person who asked me if I needed
help, but I said no and they knew I was there as a travel professional,
plus Maxx got a lot of compliments and the staff was wonderful.
The pool area, has drinks and food, DJ, photographers, pool of course,
really wonderful. Passengers are going to have fun as soon as they board.
We walked then to the Bliss Spa: Spa services are extra, they have
everything from teeth whitening to massages, and pedicures and manicures,
and separate areas where you can just sit in your bathroom and lookout at
watch the world go bye. relaxing. They offer treatments for men, women, and
couples for treatments.
on again to see the other staterooms, next it was to the penthouses, the
main floor of the penthouses were nice, sitting areas, met the butlers, bar
area, they separate dining room, and then walked up a flight of stairs to
the bedrooms really nice.
Then on to the entertainment area of the ship, we didn't see everything we
had to be off the ship by 2:30 and had lunch at 1:30
Saw the Theatre where they have live entertainment like a magician and
second city comedy troupe. We went to the Casino, no the machines were off
in port, but they do have winners listed that have won over $30,000 on the
cruise.
Then it was off to lunch. We had lunch in one of the restaurants that are
included in the price of your cruise.
We ate at the Tsar's Palace Restaurant
The interior is an inspiration of the grand palaces of St. Petersburg and
the era of the great Tsars of Russia. A five-course, award-winning menu is
the inspiration of our master chefs
I had the cold banana soup which Norwegian is famous for there chilled fruit
soups so I thought I would try it as appetizer, my daughter had baby
asparagus and mushrooms, and nelson had the same as me. Wow it was nice and
refreshing after the hot day of walking and the staff asked me if the dog
could use some water and said yes, they brought him a nice bowl, they also
told me that if he had to go potty after that they would help me find a
place to take him, but we were leaving after lunch but they were great.
For main course I had BBQ ribs and warm cole slaw, the food was wonderful,
not dripping with sauce but the meat was falling off the bone and the cole
slaw was great, we had wine as well, for desert Nelson and Dina has berry
cobbler with vanilla ice cream and I had chocolate mouse love it.
Then we had to leave and head home, it was getting late and the boat was
getting crowded with passengers going back through customs to leave and pick
up our IDs the passengers were still boarding, but we had a great time.
Can't wait to go in November.
Want to come there is still plenty of room!
