[Travelandtourism] A thought about blind cruisers

I am not discussing it, I have a large range of clients, from all across the country and I am with 2 of the biggest host agencies one on the West Coast and one the East Coast, and the primary cruise family demographics is Couple, families, and groups. And the couples and families are young family between the ages of 21-55 so it might be older on Princess and Holland American, but on the Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean is not the older generations.

But I am just the professional here.

Again, I am dropping it, since I am not going to explain myself or my business anymore. I just don't like the flip flopping either we are for braille or we aren't, I am not going to deal with this issue any longer.

  Cheryl,

I understand that you're going with what you know, from your limited
prospective of a small travel agent. But, I've been on 20 cruises and can
tell you, from personal experience, that the vast majority of cruisers on
all of those cruises have been older people. This is over a period of 30
  years.

1 cruisers are all ages including friends, family

the older generations are not the major people cruising, 85 percent of my
clientele is between the ages of 30-65 with kids.

I lost my eye sight from diabetes at the age of 35.

Well NFB is pushing for Braille, it is like saying well we don't fly so why
  should the websites be accessible

no it is not in negotiation stages at all.

They called me meaning Royal, to tell my my client who reads braille, who is
not elderly and that both herself and her husband read braille, and the kids
are sighted so you expect them to read to there parents.

Here's something to keep in mind about blind people who are cruising,
  these
    days.

It's probably been this way for a long time, but the majority of people
  who
take cruises are older individuals. Many of these people are losing their
eye sight, due to age related conditions. Most older people do not have
  the
desire to learn Braille. So, it's easier for them to receive their
    information in an audible format.

So, I think we need to be careful about the demands we put on any cruise
line. They have to determine how they can provide the information in
whatever way is most useful for most of their blind passengers. If more
blind people read Braille, that would probably be the thing to push for.
But, I don't think it's reasonable to demand Braille and some other
  format,
    too.

This whole discussion seems to be in the negotiation stage. So, it seems
counterproductive to threaten them with a loss of business if we don't get
    our way.

    Cindy--

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your
  paths
    straight."
