The time of year does also factor into it as well.  To get the less 
expensive cruise most families with children would have to pull their kids 
out of School or find someone to watch them for a few days while they are 
away.

cruises with older people.  We took
a couple Carnival cruises and one on Celebrity, where there were families
with kids.  But, the other 17 cruises we've taken have been primarily older
people.
