I am very interested in seeing this division move forward, hopefully have our own website, get involved with resolutions of how to make changes in the Travel industry in respect with the the Government. I want this to be an active division as much as possibly.
I don't know if anyone else is running, since there has been no one posting yet, but next to guide dogs, and diabetes, this is my job, I am a travel agent.
My qualifications.
I have been a member of the NFB at large since 2002, I became a member of the Greater Long Island Chapter in 2006, I ran for Treasurer and won in 2007.
I am a member of DAN, NAGDU and started the blind cooks list.
I will run for President should no one be interested in the position, but I have to warn you I am starting to get busy, and I hope I can dedicate myself as full time Travel and Tourism President. But I am running for Vice President.
I have been a travel agent since 2009, owning Echevarriatravel.com, first working with host agencies and deciding whether or not at this stage to become fully on my own, or stay with a host agency. I will be stating these things at convention, when I talk about how to become a home based agent.
I am also a member of ASTA, the American Society of Travel Agents, which I am in talks with our local chapter President, Steve Powers, who is on the National Board of Directors, to hopefully work in the future with the NFB, since many of our issues affect the travel agents issues.
NACTA - National Association of Career Travel Agents
Member of SATH - Society for Accessible Transportation and Hospitality.
I have over the past 2 years been working behind the scenes with the different suppliers, from Sandals to Disney (currently working with a class action law suit against them), I am fighting with Royal Caribbean and trying to find ways to make a difference with them, but need the help of you.
When people told me even before I stepped on the ships of Norwegian and other cruise lines, about the stories in the past of how it was when traveling on the cruise lines as a blind person, and made a decision right there to start making a change.
I may not always be right and will always be looking for your guidance and assistance in making travel better for all.
So I hope, at convention, that when I say that I want to run for V.P. that you will kindly vote on me to represent you.
Thank you.
