Hi Doug:

My name is Cheryl Echevarria, now only am I a travel agent, but I am blind, and I am a member of this great organization.

Some of the sites are not the best to book from and some of them airlines that you call might charge you a fee to calling them.

If you need some help there, first NFB is working on many issues with the airlines as we speak, and if you let us know which airlines you are having issues with we can work on them.

If you need help purchasing airline tickets. I can help as well.

The biggest compliment you can pay me is to recommend my services!

Subject: [Travelandtourism] Accessible flight booking sites?

  Hello all:
I am new to this list and am not sure if this is the right place to post
this or not but here goes. I am looking for a an accessible flight
booking site that I can use from Canada and get Canadian prices if at
all possible. The couple of sites I have looked at have one major
problem which is the way you select your departure and return dates.
Instead of providing a set of standard combo boxes that a screen reader
can access, there seems to be a read only edit box containing the words
MM/DD/YYYY and some sort of a calender that one has to interact with.
Using NVDA and FireFox 3.6 this is represented as a clickable item.
Nothing happens when one presses on the calender to interact with it. If
one uses System Access and the System Access Mobile Network you are
presented with a read only edit box for the date containing the word
MM/DD/YYYY and the word Callender. Using Safari on the iPhone, IOS 4.2,
you are presented with the text field containing the word MM/DD/YYYY and
then the word "calender" which Safari indicates is an image.
If someone wants to check out what I am talking about you can go to
http://www.flightnetwork.ca/<http://www.flightnetwork.ca/> and try to enter a flight search on the
  home page displayed.
Flight Network is one of the larger companies in Canada for booking
  discount flights from Canada.
I intend to do some more digging on this today but it would be good
to know who we can contact from these companies to report these
accessibility problems with there web sites and get them fixed.

Would love to have more input on this subject.
  Thanks all,

  Doug
