I have also sent this to my officers, that may not be listening on the talk list.
I got an e-mail from Jack Jaquiss from the Jernigen Institute from a travel agent who was originally out of New Jersey but is now in California.
He is actually a manager of the company for over 25 years.
The question is that Sabre, the booking system for airlines, car rentals, etc. the old system was very accessible to the blind. I do not use it, I do not produce enough airline tickets for it. But I do know what it is. He also uses it to track the other agents who are booking for the company.
But recently the new upgrade the Sabre Red, is no longer accessible, he states that the software is mouse driven and does not work with Jaws or window eyes.
After calling Jack, they contacted Sabre and he had mentioned that he had spoken to the NFB and that he was blind and could not use the new system.
Sabre told him that they didn't know that there were blind travel agents, and that they would give him back the old system, but for him to continue using the old system, he would need a letter from the NFB stating that he needs the old system.
Excuse me on this, please. This is bull, whether or not he contacted us, does not give the Sabre Corporation the right to ask for any paperwork stating that he is blind and cannot use this system.
I am asking those that are travel professionals that use Sabre, if they are using the old system or the new Sabre Red.
I am also trying to get a live human being with Sabre to talk to in reference to this.
