Well if you read the story about him and not the movie, which he was alive at the time that it was made and help them make it.
He was not always ray charles as we know him, he wasn't even born blind.
He used certain shoes all the time for the echo, and he didn't use girls all the time, he had a good memory.
But again, we are talking about 2 different things Rebecca.

> Awesome!
> And how does memorizing steps help if someone puts a trash can in your path or the sidewalk is dug up?
> Ray Charles was a neat guy. He made people who are blind look human. That's always a good thing even if you don't like him or his music.

> Now Reese's wife has also been a guide dog user, Beverly Hunter of GA, also I am also a cane and guide dog user, many times I do not bring Maxx to places, doesn't mean I am not a good guide dog user, but I also want to be able to use my other skills as well.
> We should all try and learn our other skills as well, whether it be guide dog, sighted guide, cane, even Ray Charles, didn't use a cane or sighted guide. He memorized his steps.
> Yes we all have our own form of mobility, but also we should learn the others so that we are not stopped from being independent in life. My dog gets sick, my husband is not home all the time, friends work, etc.
> Like someone on this list told me to listen to Dr. Jernigan's speech about independence when someone said why do you always use sighted guide and not the cane, and most of his speech was humorous, but at the same time, he didn't always use sighted guide, only when he needed it, mostly getting from a place like to the airport or through a crowd of people, etc.
> I have written to Mr. Jones about the concerns, but if they had it in place and took it away, it may not have worked or what have you.
> The same goes for the Animal Kingdom, the parts do not forbid the guides from going to any part of the parks, but at the same time, it is an advisory, meaning like Mark said they know that our dogs most of the time are well behaved and listen, they cannot say the same for a wild animal or bird.
> I have been to animal kingdom, with and without Maxx, but at the same time I had a member of my family with me. The Safari ride I wouldn't bring him on, because even though I know my dog, would just probably bark if anything, but think about it, these animals are not behind cages like at the Bronx Zoo where I have brought Maxx many a time with no issues, that being said, most of the tamer animals even though they are wild like giraffes and deer and antelopes, etc, might not be disturbed by it, but there are allegators and lions, panthers, tigers, etc. where there is some kind of wall where they couldn't get to us, but again, you never know what would go on, it would risk not only the lives of our dogs, but us and the other people riding as well.
> Again, no one was ever told they are not welcome, they advise, and it is up to us to think long and hard about the advise prior to us bringing our guides into these kinds of environments.
