Good morning all:
We have an announcement about our dear friend and Treasurer of this division since 2002, Milton Taylor.
Milton is also a member of Lions Club International, such as myself and some other members here. This Saturday, Milton was asked and won the election to be 2 Vice District Governor for the State of Utah, where he lives.
This is a great honor, especially for us blind people. Not many of us, get to this level, we have had many presidents of local lions chapters that are blind, but not many have reached this pinnacle.
Unfortunately, this means, that Milton will not be able to do any NFB work with our division or anywhere else for the next 3 years, because first is 2nd Vice District Governor, then Vice District Governor and then Governor.
Milton will not be giving up the NFB by any means, but he cannot hold positions because he will be just to busy to do this, but he will continue to help out, until elections in July at National Convention.
What does this mean for our Division? We need someone willing to take the position, temporarily and then be able to attend National Convention to run and be voted in by the membership.
Here is the description of the Treasurer position:
You need to be a paid member of the NFB Travel & Tourism DivisionYou do not need to be blind to hold this position, but all positions should try and be filled by someone who is.Be able to manage a checking and savings account. We need a trust worthy person, we had prior to Milton becoming Treasurer someone who ran off with all our money. Must live near Chase Bank, this is our Bank we use. Being President I also have signing privileges and have access to the online banking as well. I also live 3 blocks from our bank. You will be working a lot with the President of the Division, so you need to be in contact with me whether by phone, e-mail or social media on a regular bases. Milton and I were on the phone almost all the time especially with our fundraiser. We do not have a lot of bills, the only one I know of right now is our godaddy.com account and also the upcoming trip to Nashville in October 2014 Must be available for board, division and national convention meetings. Especially for elections. All officer positions are for 2 years, in 2014 at National all position are up for election, the person that will be temporary must be able to fill in for 2 years starting now and in 2014.
If you are interested, please let us know ASAP.
Milton and I will work with you on all areas of the position.
Again, I want to thank Milton Taylor as a friend and as the Treasurer of this division.
Please reply all to this e-mail to congratulate Milton.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Echevarria, President
