Good morning all member of the Travel & Tourism Division
That is correct the 2014 74th NFB National Convention in Orlando, FL has been announced on the NFB.org and it will be posting in the Braille Monitor, and we hope you are all reading and getting the Braille Monitor, which comes in large print, e-mail, braille and on NLS Flash Drive Recording.
The dates of the Convention are Tuesday, July 1 - Sunday, July 6th, 2014, which means, plans to go home on July 7th, since Sunday, July 6th is the Banquet.
We do not have a date and time yet for our Travel & Tourism Meeting, but we are trying to have a joint meeting with another great proud division of the National Federation of the Blind, which is the National Association of Guide Dog Users. They have 2 meetings at National. As you are all aware there is to much disrespect going on in the travel industry, especially with the airlines when it comes to the blind. We want to work together on these issues. We are currently in dialogue with NAGDU on a joint resolution about these issues, in fact, Resolutions is the 2nd and Division Meetings are on the 3rd of July.
I will keep you posted on it all.
It will be once again at the beautiful Rosen Center Hotel,9840 International DriveOrlando, Florida 32819Reservations: The hotel will be accepting reservations after January 1, 2014. Call (800) 204-7234.
Please do not wait until the last minute to make reservations for either the hotel or airlines, waiting until the last minute will not give you a better price on the airlines, especially during the July 4th Holidays, and it being summer vacation.
If you need help booking your transportation to and from the convention either myself, Vice President Maurice Shackelford, or possibly Anahit LaBarre can make travel arrangements for you.
