Good morning everyone:

We need your input into the New York Trip update for the 2016 Fundraiser.

Those of you who had voted on the trip at the meeting at the national
convention back on July 5, 2015 and for those you who could not attend,
Nelson Echevarria, my husband took a video of as much of the meeting and
other events at the convention as he could and is available on the NFB
Travel & Tourism Website which is here:

of-the-blind-videos/

If you are registering for the site to get updates, please email me at
cherylandmaxx at hotmail.com <mailto:cherylandmaxx at hotmail.com> since I am
also the webmaster, unfortunately, we are getting a lot of spammers and
robots on the site, so when you register just let me know, so I don't remove
you.

Now for the subject line:

At convention we had voted for the September 2016 trip to NY State, please
remember this is our fund raiser for the division, and that trip is running
about $1290 per person without transportation to NY City. After we returned
home, we got a lot of emails from all of you stating that this trip will be
too expensive for you to go. I had stated that if you were voted on the trip
options meant that you were going to attend, or willing to encourage others
to attend as well.

We are trying to see how we can cut corners on this trip and save some
money.

The original itinerary was traveling to NY City, either by driving, taking a
train or flying into one of the NY City or Long Island area airports.

Stay at a hotel in Brooklyn, do a day trip into NY City, do a tour of the
city and see Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Then travel up to Hyde
Park, NY for a few days and visit the Culinary Institute of American,
Franklin Roosevelts Home and also the Vanderbilt Mansion, then head over to
Cooperstown, NY visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, and local area landmarks
and winery or a Cider Mill, etc and then had back to NY City to offer option
sightseeing to Broadways Shows, Tour of one of the Baseball Stadium, or
other options in the city and then have a group dinner to say good bye.

We again are looking to you the members for help here.

We need to see where we can cut some corners, the trip was planned for 5
days and for those who want to come in a day before or stay a day after will
be offered the opportunity to do so.

Many of you have said let's get rid of Hyde Park, and stay with just the
city and Cooperstown.

Once we decide the pricing will be out and deposits will be do of at least
$200 per person within 60-90 days of us holding the trip.

If you can to please reply to travelandtourism at nfbnet.org
<mailto:travelandtourism at nfbnet.org> , if you are not already registered on
the nfbnet.org email lists, you need to get on the list, all information is
posted here and also on our Facebook Page which is NFB Travel and Tourism
Division and out twitter account which is

Thank you.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
