I don’t think I’ve explicitly chosen to visit a destination because I’ve read about it, but it’s a really neat idea and I can see why it might be a draw and encourage reluctant travellers to travel.

However, I did once go on a literary pub crawl in Dublin, which tangentially links to this idea.  A couple of actors showed us various literary landmarks in the city (some of those from Ulysses obviously but also famous authors’ stomping grounds), and performed scenes from Irish literature as we went round.  Unfortunately it was freezing cold and raining, so the visits to hostelries to consume Guinness and the occasional whisky chasers (well the weather was inclement) were much needed.
