Hello Tabsters and parents,

Once again, NFB-Newsline will have a presence at the youth conference this
year. In addition to wanting to improve yourselves personally, your
education is to help you in the job market. NFB-Newsline provides a tool
for helping you secure employment.

The job listings feature of NFB-Newsline can help you with this endeavor.
By setting up a work search profile, you can begin to think about the
different factors that go into deciding what you will do for a living.

We will be teaching profile building during the break-out sessions on
Saturday. Those of you who are eager and curious about the process can
certainly set up your profiles in advance. We can then work on more
advanced aspects of the job listing feature at the conference.

Below are some basic instructions for setting up a profile.

The following is a set of instructions that can be used to navigate the job
listings feature on NFB Newsline via phone:

After entering your NFB Newsline credentials, you will be presented
with the main menu. This menu contains a variety of options. We want to
focus on job listings though. To select this option, press the number 9 on
your telephone keypad.

You are then prompted to enter some information for your job search.
The first thing that is asked is for you to enter a zip code. It should be
five digits. Pressing the pound key after the last digit is not necessary.

Immediately after you input the last digit, you are asked to confirm
your location. Pressing one at this point will confirm, and pressing 2 will
revert you back to the previously requested information.

Once location is confirmed, you are directed to verify or modify a
search distance. The default setting for this is 30 miles. To change it,
press number 2. To continue, press the number 1. If the number 2 is pressed,
a list of search distance options is available to you. Simply dial the
corresponding number to select one. Then, make sure to confirm the selected
option.

Following the search distance selection, you will be presented with a
prompt to select a job category. There are 40 plus job categories. Each one
has a corresponding double-digit number. They are announced alphabetically.
Once a desired option is heard, simply dial the two numbers.

The next step is to select your highest education level. The default
for this is unspecified. You are welcome to leave it as such. However, if
you wish to be more specific to narrow your search results, you might want
to change this option. Again, the numbers 1 and 2 have the same
functionality. Press one to confirm unspecified, and press the number 2 to
change it. If the decision to press the number 2 is made, listen for your
highest education level, and press the corresponding number to select it.

The next question will ask you to identify full-time, part time,
contract, internship, and seasonal temp parameters. By default, all of these
options are set to be displayed in your search results. To change these
options, press the number 2. To continue, press the number 1. If the number
2 is pressed, you will be presented with five similar prompts that require
input. They will each ask you if you would like to either include or exclude
the option in your search query. Press 1 to include, and press 2 to exclude.
An example of such a prompt is: "To include seasonal temporary jobs, press
1. To exclude seasonal temporary jobs, press 2." After defining the
inclusion or exclusion of the five options, you are asked to confirm. To
continue, press 1.

The next two prompts will ask you to identify a minimum and maximum
annual salary respectively. The default for minimum annual salary is 0
dollars. The default for maximum annual salary is 120000 dollars. To change
either one of these values, press the number 2. To confirm the defaults,
simply press the number 1.

Finally, your search results are displayed. To continue, press the
number 1. You will then be asked if you would like to either save or discard
your search. To save, press the number 1. To discard your search, press the
number 2.
