[Vabs] Blind students gathering in Falls Church, Virginia in three weeks!

Hey everyone,

It's now too late to register in advance for the convention, but we'd
still love to have you! If you plan to come please just bring your
registration form and money (note the extra cost for late
registration) to the convention. You should register for the
convention even if you only plan to be there for a few hours, a day,
or the entire event.

Ashley, we have 22 students signed up, so -- yes -- I'd say that we
got a good turn-out. I disagree with you that we've always had an
attendance problem. Our student luncheons have always been full,
usually with two to three dozen students, and our events have
frequently had upwards of 20 students apiece.

As we'll discuss at this year's luncheon, the Students Division has
been perhaps the busiest that it's ever been this year, from our BELL
Program this summer (teaching students Braille) to this student
convention to being a voice at the board meetings, the current board
has been stretched pretty thin, all with an eye toward improving
students' lives.

I encourage those of you who want to take charge to speak with me
about running for office next year. Many on the board will be
graduating, including myself, our Treasurer, and Secretary, and I hope
that you'll be one to step forward.

Oh -- and you won't want to miss the Technology Seminar on Friday
afternoon. It's going to be quite the entertaining and informative
production! And on Saturday, we'll have some great guests at the
luncheon, including the Executive Director of the Association of
American Publishers...they represent a big chunk of the textbook
industry.

See you in Falls Church!
