[vendtalk] AmeriSource

I would only suggest that Kathy, who has written on this list about this program, can often serve as a mediator if you feel you're not getting rebates in a timely or accurate manner. Nicky Gacos, President, National Association of Blind Merchants, has worked in collaboration with our Illinois folks and our members from other states to put together this great program. There are always pros and cons with every program. When I ran dozens of vending machines, I had friends who told me I should go to Sam's more often. They said I would save pennies here and dollars there. I decided my time was more valuable than spending twelve hours a month at Sam's. I spent that time doing other business developments. This approach worked well for me. I am not suggesting that my approach is right for everyone. I am suggesting that sometimes we trip over dollars by chasing dimes. Some of my buddies in this program tell me that this rebate program is working very well for them. At the very least, I think folks should sign up for it. It is for all blind vendors. It is administered by an outside group which is not affiliated with RSVA. RSVA has shown themselves not to be credible. This is why we have worked very hard to develop a program for all blind vendors.
That said, the National Association of Blind Merchants has taken the lead and will continue to lead. We will keep searching for rebate and buying programs. We will support our members when they face legal challenges under Randolph-Shepard. It was the NFB which worked with Social Security to clarify un-incurred business expense eligibility. All of us, together, will keep doing the heavy lifting to increase our opportunities.
Have a great week.

AmeriSource is a great idea but be sure you are getting the pest price, even with the rebate. Depending on your supplier the net cost is sometimes
better at a buying club without the rebate than with it. Examples are
Kellogg's and General Mills. In the area I live both lines are better priced at a buying club without the rebate than through a traditional distributor with the rebate. And you do not have to wait 2-3 months for you money.
Also, keep track of your purchases. AmeriSource has omitted rebates due me and, even though they assured me they would "make it right", I never heard another thing.
Don't get me wrong, it is a great idea developed by nice people but, in spite of it being money you would never receive without it, it is nice to know it is doing what it purports to do.
Moreover, they take 30% of the total due you. This seems a little steep to me but, until competition arises, they get what they get.

Hi Rhonda (and all),
I double checked, your application was received on September 5th, so providing your distributor is an authorized distributor you will receive a 3rd quarter
rebate check soon, the data is being complied now.
As Kevan mentioned earlier everyone who has not yet signed up for rebates can do so by following this link.
Directly from our blindmerchants.org website here is the link:

In Illinois alone we brought in over $20,000 in rebates for the 2nd quarter...
It was likely over $70,000 for the entire United States Blind Entrepreneurs! This is such an awesome opportunity; everyone needs to be a part of this. Also some should be considering changing their purveyor from someone like Sam's (where we only get credit for Mars purchases) to an authorized vending distributor. Because now having the ability to collect rebates and the ease of having your product delivered vs. going and hand picking orders... The benefits can outweigh the initial savings.
Anyone with questions can feel free to call me, I am also willing to help anyone complete the application and submit it for them. 630-234-4444
Thank you,

Rhonda,
I'm traveling in Ohio this weekend.
However, AmeriSource is very very easy. You simply sign up. You order
through the same sources from which you have always ordered. AmeriSource
will track that data for you. You will then receive a quarterly check. This
typically works better when you are using a national vend supplier, such as
Vistar. When I get off the road next week, I can get you further
clarification. Everyone can sign up on the AmeriSource program.

I'm not understanding how Amerisource works. Can someone explain to me how
it all works? Where am I suppose to order from? How is it shipped to me? Is
there shipping and handling charges attached?

Hello Rhonda,
You should just continue to ordering as you have been. You should have
given
them your customer info to the places you have been ordering from.
