Hello Mary Jo,
Yes, continue and build upon what has been started.
The evening leaves more time compared to a limited time with the morning
schedule looming. The evening offers an open night of opportunities to
network. Networking and ideas are great if some form of organized manner
can keep the focus. I also think that showing how these programs can
actually become an essential component for other blindness entities which
can bring together the department of education's district teachers of the
blind, schools for the blind, counselors for state agencies, college program
interns, and how the families of the teens can build networks along with the
parents of blind children division can lead to a successful attitude in
teens, parents, teachers and enhance one's self advocacy an give
opportunities for others to see how positive role modeling, mentoring and
the NFB philosophy can bring about a positive future outlook with higher
expectations.
These youth programs are not just a side show, they are a new beginning for
the Blind Teens and sometimes the missing link in establishing a positive
and higher expectation in all those involved.
Thanks.
Jeff Thompson

Hi all,
As some of you may remember, last year during convention, we held a
meeting for all of those individuals with interest in , or who were
already facilitating youth outreach programs in their states. We are
beginning to put together ideas for next summer's convention. I know
that in the midst of wrapping presents and pulling out sweaters, the
last thing you are probably thinking of is convention in July. But, its
time for us to start submitting request for meeting times and spaces.
So with that, I would like to get some feedback from you on your
thoughts of another meeting of this nature.
1. Would you be interested in attending a meeting about youth outreach
again?
2. With the shortened convention schedule, would you prefer to attend
an early morning meeting or evening (after session) meeting time?
3. What kind of meeting/gathering would you like to see? (I.e.
gathering for breakfast, networking and sharing of ideas, formal
presentation of different resources or program ideas, etc.)
4. What other comments/suggestions do you have about this idea?

I would appreciate hearing your feedback as soon as possible. Please
take a moment to reply to this for me so that we can do our best to
ensure that we are addressing the needs of our members.
Happy Holidays!
