In Texas we currently have an Austin area formal mentoring program
sponsored by a Rehabilitation grant funded to our NFB affiliate. We
currently serve 9-mentoring pairs, and a few of the pairs are headed
to our state convention to experience the student devision and engage
with positive blind role models for a weekend in Abilene.
A second awesome youth initiative occuring here shortly, is Texas's
third trip to Baltimore Maryland affiliate Action Youth Leadership
seminar. An impactful empowering weekend of leadership skills
building, an education in self-advocacy, and independent living
skills, for the High School age student. Know one can bring our
message home like our National Center's hospitality and leadership.
I encourage many of the new folks on the list, to keep in touch, and
take advantage of the opportunities extended from the heart at
jernigan Place. Youth Slam, JR Science Acadamy, scholarship program,
Youth Leadership Acadamy, Teen Empowerment, and much much much more.
