Hi,

You might investigate the caddies made for knitting needles, where you can separate the needle sizes.

Ann,

This is an idea I didn't discover, and it could work. I never thought of the pencil topper idea. It is something to consider for sure.

Have you used any of the art boxes that you see everywhere before? I thought one of them with several individual slots could be great too, but not sure if there is a specific brand that comes highly recommended or not.

thanks,

I then categorized my pencil into blues, greens, yellows, browns, oranges, reds, purples, and blacks & whites. This works for me as a sighted artist. When I start a new project I select a pallet of between 3 and 12 colors. By limiting the colors I can set a tone for the image and still feel like I have every thing I need to get the picture saying what I have to say. I wonder if with a limited number of colors you could devise a marker system that you could quickly identify.

Once you have your colors selected for your project you could differentiate two or three of the same color with a bit of masking tape. I imagine I would try 1/2” for the darkest red, 1/4” for the middle tone and none for my lightest red.

I'm worried about labeling each pencil, marker and so on with dimo tape, because I'm worried that the tape may come undone, or just ware overtime, so my thought was putting all shades together in one slot or some such. I'm curious how you all organize, and product suggestions to help with such.
