[blindkid] Need quick advice for Ari

Years ago, when Serena was in elementary school, a do-gooder parent
called the principal and "reported" that Serena was standing on the
corner (where all the kids stood waiting for their parents to pick
them up) "all by herself" waiting for me to arrive. The principal
called me and informed me that from now on, Serena would wait for me
in the office.

Grrrr.

So...to the Federation archives I went, looking for what Dr. Jernigan
said about the ADA several years before. This is really huge, and
every parent (and blind citizen) should know about it. We--the
Federation--did not sign on to the ADA until they agreed to add words
saying that the disabled person HAD THE RIGHT to TURN DOWN an
accomodation he/she did not want.

Here is a link to the story about this and the actual words of the
law, if you'd like to take a look.
