Laurie, my son (7 years old) wore a conformer for a couple of years and is now on to prosthetic (painted conformer) eye. He also has microphthalmia. And the conformer does help to keep the eye socket growing in relation to the child's face which will be important for cosmetic purposes as she grows up. What state are you in? How old is your daughter? ican - international children's anophthalmia/microphthalmia network is having a conference in LA in June if you are interested in attending please contact me. There will be tons of information, a free clinic at the children's hospital, workshops and research updates by the genetecists who work with us.
