[blindkid] Wrestling

Hi Becky:

I did my share of wrestling as a youth. I wrestled both sighted and blind
wrestlers and the rules are essentially the same with the exception that
there must always be constant contact. When the two opponents face off they
can hold their palms out in a one palm up one palm down touching fashion.
When the whistle blows having vision doesn't matter. Your son can learn the
wrestling moves quite naturally because the team members practice on each
other. Sometimes the coach would wrestle with me first to give me a general
idea of the moves then send me loose on my team.
I would like to say to your son that, when on the mat, he must keep focused.
He must completely ignore his surroundings. By doing so he will become very
in tune to his opponent.

Good luck!

Mark Feliz
