[blindkid] A question.

Melissa,
The best advice that I would give to another parent is not words, but the action of seeing other blind individuals who have received training in alternative techniques. For sighted people, the saying "seeing is believing" really rings true. This is why it is important for families to attend state and national NFB conventions. I would also tell parents to NOT feel sorry for their child, but imbrace what their child CAN do. If parents don't believe in their children's abilities, then we lose the drive for high expectations.
My only regret is that I wish we had found the NFB when my daughter was younger.
Hope this is what you are looking for....
Regards,
Kim Cunningham

What advice would you give to parens with a blind child?
If you are a parent, what advice or information do you wish people had given you?
I was asked this question as a blind adult.  So thought I would put this out there and see if I am on the right track or not.
Your anser can be two word, or two sentences, or even a paragraph.
I am just curious.  I thought that it would be a good topic for discussion.
