Hello Maggie:

     The NFB has a book called the Care and Feeding of the Long White Cane. 
This will give you some information. You should also contact your state NFB 
affiliate. That office can refer you to a local NFB chapter. This should get 
you some impromtu O&M help. Hope this helps.
