[blindkid] blind vs deaf population

Does anyone have or know the best source to find statistics on the blind and deaf population of the US. (World specs would be interesting as well.)

I'm suspecting the NFB has some pretty accurate figured as to the numbers of blind vs visually impaired people in at least the US, and probably deaf and hard of hearing figures as well. The figures I am finding are not well documented and I'd like to have some idea of how accurate these numbers are before I use this information as I need to.
