Yes but it depends on what third party applications he wants to use on it
because not all of them are accessible. What school does he go to. Also,
he can use a built in program called Voice Over you can find it in the
setting menu up under general and accessibility.

Subject: [blindkid] Ipads

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if IPads are considered accessible to the
blind? And if so, how so? My son's school (Academy for the Blind) just
acquired them through a grant, and are using them in the classroom. They
have been provided to the teachers, some of whom are blind. I'm just curious
to know if/how these will be useful to someone with essentially no vision at
all. Thanks for your thoughts!

:) Carolynn Barnes
