So we¹re embarking on a new chapter We took the boys in for another hearing
evaluation & the audiologist & ENT are strongly recommending hearing aides
for our both our 12 y/o & 16 y/o.
Quite a day This is all very new to us.
I would love to hear the perspectives of anyone with insights specifically
on hearing aides, hearing aide considerations in blind teens, or anything
relevant in that context.
There are huge variations amongst eye docs & ocularists that we have seen
over the years - I am sure the same holds true for audiologists & those who
subspecialize in hearing aides.
I did some intensive preliminary surfing on the topic yesterday evening.
Obviously we want to do what is best for our kids.
Which type of hearing aide is ³the best²?
Does anyone have a specific recommendation for an outstanding hearing aide
specialist? (We live in Southern California, but can travel if that's what
is best).
Any funding suggestions? We will check with our insurance, but it sounds
like there may/will be a significant out-of-pocket expense (Consumer reports
quoted prices along the lines of $1,800 to $6,800 per pair) times 2 in our
case
Any specific contact or resource suggestions?
Sincerely,
EricV
