[blindkid] comment on how accessible HTML e-books are?

I noticed this story about an effort a company is making toward
accessibility of higher math books. Can anyone enlighten me on how
accessible this format is to blind users? Would it be usable with a screen
reader but not a braille display?

Disclaimer: I work for the company but have nothing to do with this effort.
I just try to keep up with this topic to some degree.
