1940, NFB’s purpose is to help people who are blind/visually impaired achieve
self-confidence, self-respect, and self-determination. NFB’s goal is the
complete integration of people who are blind/visually impaired into society on
the basis of equality. NFB advocates for the civil rights and equality of
people who are blind/visually impaired, and develops innovative educational,
technological, and training programs to provide people who are blind and those
who are losing their vision with the tools they need to become independent and
successful. NFB welcomes members of all ages, including children and their
parents. There is a parent’s division (FOPBC) for families of children
from birth to 18 who are blind/visually impaired.
