[blindkid] Sleep pattern for blind 5 month old

Dear Alicia,

It's important to remember that whether a child is blind or sighted, babies'
sleep patterns differ widely. It might be a good idea to chart your
daughter's sleep patterns so you can get a clearer sense what is going on.
For instance, if she's waking a lot during the night, she may sleep more
during the day to catch up. If you continue to be concerned, you might
think about consulting a pediatric sleep specialist. A number of hospitals
have pediatric sleep clinics.

Debbie

She has clinical bilateral anophthalmia. She has no other medical
conditions. We are working with our county's early intervention program and
the Maryland School for the Blind. I also contacted MSB and they suggested
giving her more stimulation during the day but not too much, obviously. She
will eat and play and 'talk" when she is awake.
