Dear Fellow Federationists:

The 2014 National Federation of the Blind National Convention, to be held
at the Rosen Centre July 1-6, is rapidly approaching. If you have not yet
preregistered or reserved your room at the Rosen Centre, we encourage you
to do so as soon as possible. You won’t want to miss what is always the
largest and most exciting gathering of blind people in the country!

Rooms at the Rosen Centre are available on a first-come, first-served basis
until our block is filled or until May 28, whichever comes first. After our
block is filled and/or after May 28, the hotel has no obligation to accept
any further reservations. The room block often fills up before the
deadline, which is less than two weeks away! To make a reservation now and
ensure you don’t miss out on the special room rates associated with our
block, please call the Rosen Centre at (800) 204-7234.

The deadline for preregistration for the national convention is also
quickly approaching – preregistration ends at midnight on May 31. As
always, we encourage you to preregister online (
 http://lx-web.nfb.org/convention <http://lx-web.nfb.org/convention>) and
avoid waiting in the long lines at convention. You will also save some
money by preregistering -the preregistration fee for convention is $25 ($30
on site) and the cost of a banquet ticket is $55 ($60 on site).

*** Note that we also encourage you to register for the NOPBC Conference,
Taking the Next Step, at
http://www.nopbc.org/component/dtregister/?Itemid=0&eventId=1&controller=event&task=memberdata(more
information about the Conference is available at
http://www.nopbc.org/programs-and-events/2014-annual-conference).The NOPBC
Conference is put on by the hosts of this listserv, the National
Organization of Parents of Blind Children (NOPBC) in conjunction with
Professionals in Blindness Education (PIBE). Both NOPBC and PIBE are proud
divisions of the NFB, so the same great information and attitudes toward
blindness permeate through both the NFB Convention and the NOPBC Conference!

Now, I how easy it is to procrastinate, especially at such a busy time of
year. However, I can tell you, from personal experience, how valuable
pre-registration is, and it's not in the money saved for pre-registration.
Essentially, pre-registration (for the NFB Convention AND for the NOPBC
Conference) provides you a "Fast Pass." Your materials are just sitting in
Orlando, waiting for you to pick them up. You won't have to wait in line,
provide the registration information, wait to have name tags, etc. printed,
or have to pay on-site.

By pre-registering before May 31 (NFB Convention) and June 15 (NOPBC
Conference), you help the individuals who coordinate the Convention and the
Conference plan more efficiently. You also help those individuals who could
not (or forgot to) pre-register by taking yourself out of the "non-Fast
Pass" line).

If you have not already done so, please consider taking the time right now
(or very soon) to fill out registrations for each. You won't regret it!

Looking forward to seeing you at the Rosen Centre in July!
