Roanna,I agree with Debby 100%. However, my daughters were/are always allowed to have friends come to our house for sleepovers. That way, they could all have fun and I would feel fine about that. I would FOR SURE say no if I didn't know anything about the other girl or her family. Your mother did the right thing.

Our children (sighted or blind) were never allowed to go to another's house until we got to know the parents, definitely not a sleepover. Children are a precious treasure and we wanted to be sure our kids would be safe wherever they were.

Dear Members,
I hope all of you are doing well. The subject of this message
stems from an incident that occurred when I was in sixth grade.
It was the weekend of my older sister's graduation party and I
had been invited to a sleep over at the home of a sighted friend.
I asked my mom if I could go to it and she said no. As I look
back on this incident now I don't blame my mom for not letting me
go. She did not know anything about my sighted friend or her
family. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic.
