[blindkid] Questions for IEP

Judy,
I am not a parent but someone who went through the IEP process as a
blind student in the K-12 system.
Some questions I can think of (for yourself and maybe for the IEP meeting)
1. How is she doing socially with her peers?
2. Her involvement in extracurricular activities?
3. Is she meeting academic milestones just like typically developing peers?

Not a question but as a suggestion, I would like you to consider
involving your daughter in the meeting, and asking her if she has any
question or comment. I personally got involved in my own IEP meeting
starting from middle school, which was my first IEP meeting. (I went
to elementary school in Asia so no IEP there).
Those IEP meetings were emotionally hard for me but looking back I
think it was beneficial for my self-advocacy skills and personal
growth. You know your daughter best so I trust your judgement; just
wanted to give this suggestion because it seems like some of students
don't get a chance to sit in their own IEP meetings until too late.

Best,
Miso Kwak
