[BlindKid] Targeted Media Revisited

Some months ago, I posted a question to this list that's still burning. Is
there a need for literature and/or podcasts about blindness aimed at a
younger audience, especially high school and below?

Our national student division has done a good job of reaching out to colleg
students and high school juniors and seniors, but I'm not sure if we've done
as good at reaching elemtary and middle school students, and high school
freshmen and sophomores.

Since we're still in the middle of this pandemic, many students are still
receiving school online. If a student has access to a teacher of the blind
who believes and models our philosophy, that's great. But what if they
don't. And if they're only hearing this from their parents, I wouldn't be
surprised if they might tune it out. This is especially true in a rural
state like Oregon, where services are limited.

So what do you think. Is it time to create materials aimed at a younger
audience that articulate our positive philosophy about blindness? Is the gap
real? I know we have a lot of creative talent within the organization, so
can we do it? Thanks.
