[blindlaw] Transportation Issues

I found this late as I'm way behind with emails as usual. As a blind free
lance paralegal I am able to do much of my work on line. However, it is
necessary to travel frequently for meetings and other activities. I work out
of my house in Fresno a city of about 500,000 with a fair public
transportation system. While there are handy ride vans I prefer to use fixed
route service as it is better to depend on buses than waiting for vans to
pick me up. At times I find that even depending on buses is a time waster
and I will then rely on using cabs at my own expense. I have always looked
at this as one of the costs of doing business. When it works I will also
rely on colleagues for rides and on rare occasions I have paid drivers when
I've needed to go to a place not covered by public transit or the cost of
paying a taxi would be outrageous. As I frequently have to travel to
Sacramento I use Amtrak and local ground transportation in Sacramento
usually cabs. Its always interesting to hear about people's individual
situations and how they solve them. hope this helps.
Chuck
