I also use this in conjuncrtion with my job anb to redact out personally identifiable information and personal health information.  I also use the typewrite feature to insert different terminology in order to sanitize a document, e.g. type over someone's name with a designation like "Employee-1" so the document can become sharable if needed.  This is very common in the legal world.

It is possible to lock down a pdf using a password so that no one can alter it.  It is similar to locking down a pdf so no one can access it without the password.  This should resolve people's security concerns.

I have not figured out a way to non-visually use the redact or typewrite features, though I've come close a couple of times.  I hear rumors that Adobe is working on making these features keyboard command accessible in an upcoming version.

Legal assistance and paralegals often redact portions of a text in a document such as the names of witnesses and/or their mailingaddresses or phone numbers   for confidentiality purposes.  this is similar to redlining in word except that you need adobe acrobat professional. i use jaws 2020 and acrobat pro 2014 and still unable to perform this function independently.
