Hello,

I’m a partially blind government lawyer. Because I have some sight, I still predominantly rely on my eyes for writing and use fusion for reading. i have particular trouble recognizing characters when proof reading, so I was granted the accommodation of using a paralegal to proofread documents. But our paralegals aren’t perfect and for the second year in a row, my proofreading has been marked against me in my annual review. It has also been cited as a reason I wasn’t put up for promotion.

Since my current accommodation is not working, I want to suggest alternatives to my superior. We’ve explored hiring a dedicated person to assist me, but I frankly don’t need enough assistance to justify a whole extra salary.

I can’t think of a better alternative than a proofreader.

What has worked for you all in the past?

Thanks!
