Doug, here's the main page for it: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Texvc. With regard to MathType, if you're typing TeX *into* MathType, then yes, it's Texvc. To translate a MathType equation into TeX, that's one of 5 flavors.

A while back someone on this list, maybe Neil, said that the version of TeX underlying MathType is TeXvc.  I did a web search for it but came up empty.  Does anyone have a link to information about TeXvc?
